Welcome Back!
Submitted By Blair Salt on Thu 08 25, 22
Welcome to the 2022-23 hockey season with Loyalist Minor Hockey. The executive has been working throughout the off season to prepare for a September start up. Tentative schedules have been posted and as always are dependent on registration numbers so we encourage you to register your child if you haven't already done so.

Every year we experience a turnover of volunteers at all levels. Paul Proderick has "retired" and will continue to serve as past president in an advisory role. Our representative teams have coaches in place and we aim to ice teams at all levels from U11 to U21. Tryouts are scheduled throughout September in various age groups as designated by the OMHA. Please note that players wishing to try out for representative teams must register online before the first try outs. No registrations will be taken in person. No players will be rostered to a rep team at an affiliate level if they have not tried out for the rep team at their level. Any further questions about rep hockey should be directed to Paul McBride at [email protected]

In local league we need volunteers at all levels.  From IP to U18 there are lots of opportunities to volunteer. Coaches, managers and trainers are badly needed this season. LTMHA covers the cost of certification for these positions. Please consider stepping up and getting involved-you'll be at the rink anyways! Our IP Program will begin Saturday September 24th and is in need of volunteers as many volunteers have aged out of the division. An off ice co-ordinator and an on ice co-ordinator are needed for the upcoming season. Please consider giving up an hour or two every Saturday morning. Contact Blair Salt at  [email protected] for further information.

Background checks must be done for all volunteers. They are available at no cost on line at opp.ca Look on our homepage for information about the process. Those who have a current background check on file (last three years) need to complete a waiver for the upcoming season. League play will commence late September for EOMHL and during the Thanksgiving weekend for the ICHL (local league). As usual check the website for up to date information.

On our website you can order Jets gear from the Loyalist Hockey Shop for the upcoming season. Orders are delivered to your home and the association receives a percentage of the sales which go towards association costs.

We have been following the current situation at the national level with Hockey Canada. We wish to assure you that at Loyalist we continue to follow all guidelines that help to keep your children safe. We are disappointed with the situation and continue to look for a better result at the national level. Our past president wrote to the President of Hockey Canada and I think his letter is worth a look for those who are following the issue, you can find it at https://ltmha.com/Public/Documents/Letter_to_HC.pdf

The last few years’ have been a struggle for all and we look forward to better days.Best wishes to all for a fun and successful hockey season, GO JETS!
