December 17 Update
Just over a week ago notice was given that we need to refocus on our commitment to our COVID Policy as developed with the township. We have received notice today that there continues to be issues with compliance in this area. Specifically, people are not social distancing to expectations.
There is plenty of space provided for everyone to distance themselves and no reason for people to be congregating. Distances are clearly marked and each participant must take a clearly marked number when putting on skates to ensure social distancing. Players are to keep their masks on until it’s time to enter the ice surface and they need to distance when lining up to go on the ice or on the benches. Once a player is ready for the ice the players companion should move towards the viewing area maintaining proper distance.
In order for us to keep the arena open and have kids on the ice developing, people need to understand it’s not a time for socialization. Should people continue to congregate and have their masks off, the Township will have no choice but to start cancelling ice time.
Should parents/companions be unable to buy into this philosophy the Township may revoke the allowance for companions and players will need to be dropped off at the door ready to go and it will be the responsibility of the team staff to facilitate everything within the arena.
In this current environment we can only control our own actions and as an association we need to work together to keep our kids on the ice. Please do your part to keep the arena available to LTMHA.
It is clear that everyone is tired of the COVID situation with people becoming more relaxed and this is certainly not a time for that as we move into the winter. With numbers rising in our Public Health Unit your support is appreciated in this matter.
We will share information as it comes to us from our governing bodies.
